You are expected to arrive at the airport in the morning and your safari driver for this tour will pick you up, give a briefing of the safari, and transfer you to your first destination – Amboseli National Park. After about 5 hours on the road, arrive at the lodge and check in. Enjoy your first meal in Amboseli and this will be topped up with scenic views and fresh air of the surroundings. You will spend the rest of the afternoon resting and enjoying the beauty and tranquility of the wild. Lodge options: Kibo Safari Camp, AA Amboseli Lodge, Sentrim Amboseli Camp
An early morning breakfast at the camp and head out for a morning game drive that will spice up your second day with encounters of the giants in the wild – African elephants. Amboseli National Park is mostly famous for elephants, most of which are spotted single or in small herds. The backdrop of Mt Kilimanjaro makes a stunning view and is one of the best things you can capture for lovely memorable photos of the trip. Animals are more active in the morning and you will have a chance to see several species including zebras, hippos, giraffes, jackals, wild dogs, elands and the Big Five. Again, the view of Mt. Kilimajaro is incredibly stunning as it forms a beautiful background when viewing wildlife, especially the elephants. Have a short break for a picnic lunch at noon for about an hour or so and resume the game drive for the afternoon exploration. Delight in scenic viewing at the observational hill which offers 3600 views of Amboseli National Park including a lake that attracts quite big animal numbers to quench their thirst and cool their bodies. Return to the lodge for dinner and the overnight.
This will not be a very early morning as the last one as it will be for a check out from your lodge and transfer to Naivasha. The 7 hour scenic drive between Amboseli and Naivasha offers a chance to stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint to watch the stunning escarpment, capture photos, and stretch the legs before continuing with the journey. Enjoy an en-route lunch, and at around 3 p.m. you will arrive at Naivasha, check in to your lodge and relax. Lodge options: Naivasha Kongoni Lodge, Malu Lodge, Chui Lodge
A wonderful adventure of exploring Hell’s Gate National Park on a bike awaits on this 4th day of the 8 Days Kenya safari. You will wake up to a yummy breakfast at the lodge and thereafter grab your bikes and go cycling through different kinds of landscapes. The adventure offers fascinating views of rock towers, gorges, and cliffs among others. There is a chance to come across wild animals like reedbucks, elands, zebras, gazelles, and cape buffaloes. Ride back to the lodge for lunch, rest for an hour or so and later drive to the Sanctuary Farm. It is home to wildebeests, waterbucks, zebras, giraffes, Grant’s gazelle, Thompson’s Gazelle, spotted hyenas and serval cats among others. It is home to several bird species which can be looked out for during a nature walk with a site guide. From bike riding, and horse riding to nature walks, there are lots of fun things to do at the Sanctuary farm. We planned for a nature walk but you can as well participate in other activities before you return to the lodge. Meal plan: Full board
Mt. Longonot stands at 2,776m above sea level While trekking on Mt. Longonot requires fitness, the unfit can also climb but will find some hard time during the hike. The trip starts at the park’s gate, to the mountain’s crater rim and back. The 5-hour trek offers nothing but an exhilarating experience with breathtaking views of the Great Rift Valley. There is a chance to spot some wild animals that reside in the park but this comes on rare occasions. In the afternoon, you will return to the lodge, have lunch and rest. Meal plan: Full board
Day 6 of your Kenya adventure will start with breakfast at your lodge just before you check out. 5 hours on the road transferring to Masai Mara and on arrival, you will check in, have lunch and relax for about an hour before your driver picks you up again to go for a late afternoon game drive. Let the evening find you in the plains of Masai Mara so you can watch how the animals get active once more before dusk. The mild temperatures allow grazers to feed comfortably while they also attract predators making the wild more rewarding. Quite several animal species to see during the game drive; giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, antelopes, hippos, and the African Big Five among others. You will explore the park untill sunset and watch the pretty golden hour just before returning to the lodge. Meal plan: Full board Lodge options: Lenchada Tourist Camp (budget), Miti Mingi Eco Camp (midrange), Sentinel Mara Camp (luxury)
Masai Mara is one of the world’s best places to watch wildlife in their natural habitat due to the dense population plus the ease of spotting cats. Day 7 is what brings out the most of the itinerary’s highlights. Have breakfast at the lodge and head out to the plains with your packed lunch for a full day exploration of Masai Mara. Expect to see a variety of wildlife species including the Big Five, large herds of wildebeests, zebras, giraffes, hippos, cheetahs, and hyenas among others. Break the day with a picnic lunch at noon and explore more until late afternoon or evening depending on the sightings of the day. The afternoon drive includes stopping at Mara River to watch the amazing congregations of wildebeests which can sometimes be spotted being attacked by crocodiles in the river.
